Fridge Organizing Pack Tutorial
Hi everyone! Welcome to the Fridge Organizing Tutorial. Lots of times the poor fridge gets forgotten when it comes to organizing. But why? It should be top on the list because we are in and out of our fridges so many times a day. So let’s show it some love! We are going to real world organize your fridge. What do we mean by real world organize? The stuff in our fridges is real stuff that we use. Most people don't go out and buy fruit and veggies in all colors of the rainbow so they can put them into a container for looks. We don't go out and buy all name brand organic foods so they would look nice in the fridge. Yes we want it to look nice, but most people do not buy food so it will look nice. We buy it to eat it! Who cares what the packaging looks like. And without a doubt we are going to find expired food.
Once again, this is real life organizing. In the Basics of Organizing Tutorial we covered all of the steps to organizing anything. The first step in the process is to remove everything from the space. And the second is to sort everything into groups.
Combining these 2 steps makes things go even faster. So as you remove an item, place it into a group. Let’s completely clear out the fridge and as you do, put like things together. We aren’t doing the freezer in this video to save time but the exact same rules apply. Now here I must insist, wipe down those shelves. If they are anything like mine they need it.
At this point everything should be in a group. Sauces, yogurt, cheese, condiments. Everything is in a group. You are now ready to move on to step 3, the purge. Look at each group and each item within the group. Is it expired? Toss it. Will it ever get eaten? If not, toss it. I know you spent good money on it but be real. If it will not get eaten why let it take up space until it expires? Just get rid of it. Often times my fridge has 2 ketchups open and 2 soy sauces open. Combine them and give yourself some space. Look at each item and decide if it stays or goes. Fridges don’t have as many options as other spaces, it’s either keep or trash.
Once you have purged, it is time to move onto step 4: containerize items and put everything away in their groups.
Grab your Oba Fridge Pack and let's take a look at how to best use the items. The Drink Crate is exactly what the name says, for drinks. Same with the Egg Crate. In most instances I do not recommend taking something out of its original packaging and putting into another container. But not so with eggs. I like to put eggs in the Egg Crate so I always know how many I have. I hate going to grab eggs and finding I only have 1 left! The Fridge Bins come in large, medium and small. We have a lot of dairy so I am going to use a large for that. Keep working with your groups and put them in containers that match their size. The Fridge Bins are easy to grab and take out of your fridge. If you are a person who loves to use sauces when cooking, why not fill one with your go to sauces and when it comes time for meal prep grab the whole thing!
And of course don’t forget about your bins and drawers that are a part of your fridge. Those are built in containers that are ready to go.
Now onto the final step, labeling! Grab your Label It! Fridge Labels Pack. You’ve got 38 different categories and 46 total labels. Label all your bins and do not forget to label the shelves and bins in your fridge door, as well as the built in drawers in your fridge. Stand back and take in your amazing fridge! You did this! AMAZING!!!
And that’s all there is to it. We’ve said it before and we will say it again and again. You can do this! You can be organized. And now that your fridge is organized, are you ready for something bigger, like the pantry? You know we’ve got the packs and tutorials just waiting for you. And if you need one or two more of any item go on over to the a la carte section to complete your space.
